Biking to work in the DRIZZLE was fine. It looked like this-
Pretty prepared, right?
Something terrible happened on my way home. I made it home safely, but not without interruption and betrayal.

Sorry if it gets a little loud. These bike in the rain videos happen when I get home and have no one to talk to and feel the need to document my misery/triumph.

Oh yikes, what a pain in the eye!! I love how the Bern helmets keep the rain out of my eyes when I pull them down low over my brows. Hard to see the road but hey ho. Better luck next time, hope it wasn't too cold! :-)
ReplyDeleteFYI, you have the CUTEST VOICE and mannerisms ever. :)
ReplyDeleteOh whew, I thought you got attacked by vampires or weresquirrels or Zack Galifinaikis or something.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, try baby-wipes. That happens to me too from sweat and sunscreen lotion.
I know some guys that wear bike caps under their helmet because the brim keeps the rain out of their eyes. Maybe this trick could be adapted for girls? Perhaps a little bike cap put under the pink helmet could give you a brim and keep the rain out? And they're easy to tuck into a purse if you don't need it.
ReplyDeleteI luuuurve how well my new Bern Brighton helmet keeps the rain outta my eyes. It's so awesome! Unexpected major benefit. That longer brim makes all the difference. If you want to wear your pro-tech helmet you could get this awesome matching cycling cap from etsy to wear underneath and keep the rain out (I actually own it, and I've bought a few cycling caps from them) http://www.etsy.com/listing/56963123/forza-italia-cycling-cap
ReplyDeleteI did not bike to work today to give my butt a break after riding to the beach 2 days in a row, although the way the rain turned out I'm kinda glad I didn't...I have a lot further to ride back to Brooklyn obviously.
Also I love that pro-tech helmet, hot pink for the win!!!! <3
This makes me miss my bike! Awe...
ReplyDeleteYou are seriously the cutest thing ever. I really liked your video too!
So happy to have found your blog.

You woke up my cat and now he is pissed, hahaha
ReplyDeleteI've been curious about how you keep your makeup on just while riding normally! I sweat so much.
I reckon you need a scuba diving mask to protect your eye makeup and stop the rain getting in your eyes. In heavy rain you could even find the snorkel useful! LOL
ReplyDeletehaha :> you look so cute :>
ReplyDeleteI guess a hat with a brim or sombrero could have saved me. This makes me a little down on the pro-tec helmet. I like the brims that Berns have.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't ridden in the rain because I'm too scared to ride though I know one of these days I'm going to get caught up in it. I need to find good rain gear. Plus, imagine perspiration getting in to your eyes. Now that stings.
ReplyDeleteOh poo for your wet ride, gal. But, you got a cute blog out of it! Loved how you did the pictures and the vid is the cutest ever!
ReplyDeleteHappy travels! <3 <3 <3
I seem to be watching so many blogs I don't get to look at yours so often nowadays. However when I do there's lots to look at.
ReplyDeleteYou really did get sooooo wet! I hate cycling in the rain although I've cycled for so long, and hated it even when I cycled really seriously.
I'm cycling in a Ladies only group ride (race for some I suppose) called Cycletta, there is one in the South of England and I'm in the North of England one. Look up the site, you might be interested.
That cycle pannier is really pretty, it suits the little lady so well.
I bike it to and from work all the time and where I live in the UK, it does get pretty wet!! I can't cycle with a helmet, I find them so uncomfortable and unnatural-feeling, so I wear a baseball cap with the brim pulled low, and clear safety glasses, that normally does the trick. Not the safest thing in the world not to have a helmet, I realise, but the brim also keeps the sun and glare out of my eyes so to my twisted logic, that feels safer.
ReplyDeleteyou look and are so so cute. I am so inspired to trick my bike out to look like yours!
ReplyDeleteCheck me out!
