Introducing Viva!

Viva the diva? I don't know her name, but she's a fast, fancy female.
Viva Urban Deluxe

Did I ride 4miles with that big, dumb tote bag on the handlebar like that? Why yes, of course I did.

But I love this tote, and I love the items inside the bag, so there was no debate. We sallied forth. Together.

It's the Claw Money ClawMingDale's tote. I got it at her sample sale. I'm a big fan of Claw. Look her up! She's an important modern-day female graffiti icon and you should know about her.

Me & Viva only went, like, this far so I can't judge her too thoroughly just yet, but I could give her the First Impression rose.

She's fancy, y'all.

I only really used gears 2 & 3 because I was trying to keep that biggo tote bag full of wonderful new things out of the wheel, but those two gears were magnificent for that 4mile jot. I don't even know what I'm going to do with 7 gears.

The only nasty thing I have to say is it has that POS bell that comes on a Linus. But that's a simple fix.

I'm also real happy that the tires are brown and not black. I really have a problem with black tires now, thanks to Fyxation. First I'm too good to ride the subway anymore, and now I'm too good for black tires.

Some people have real problems. I'll keep mine ;)

  1. Brown tyres - fancy!! Is this another bike-on-trial or have you splashed out and bought a backup bike?

    1. I did not splash. I don't think this is a permanent situation. I'm going to write some review posts. It's got such a forward-leaning posture, I'm not sure we're meant for each other.

The Viva is beautiful! Love the brown accents, especially the saddle and handles. Off the topic, but as another UES lady biker how is the new East River bike path at night? Is it well travelled with people and safe for a single lady biker at night?

    1. Great question! The East River Bike Path is a little inconsistent. I think there are community meetings about getting the UN to allow it to run behind there? but I'm not really sure about that.

I use it from 60th street under the Q'boro bridge up to the Ped. Bridge at 78th Street. I think it's lit well and I guess it's got enough people. I haven't done it too late at night. 10 or 11pm is probably the latest. Any later and I would just use York Ave.

Sometimes we ride the East River Greenway path up to Target/shopping complex, but that never happens too late at night, but it's wonderful and fast. I mean, we get on the path at 82nd street (There's a tiny ramp off a cul de sac) and ride up to the ped. bridge right by the shopping center/Target.

That is a dreamy looking ride, looks like a neo classic. Looks old but new at the same time! Good luck with it, where'd you get it from?

    Ride safe and stylish !

Looks like a previous year (2010?) model, right?
