Study Break

The blog and the bicycles are being neglected because I am studying.

I'm studying Clinton stuff so I can be the best docent ever. There's so much to learn! And keep learning. And then learn again. I love giving tours and being there. The bright side of this is that I should be able to absolutely slay at any American History trivia that comes my way in the future. Jeopardy? Pub quiz? I'm your girl.

I'm taking Spanish. I've got a big field trip to some spanish language countries next summer and I am bad at remembering, so I am getting an early start. I also want to be pen-pals with a spanish-speaking lady from my time in NYC. She was the cleaning lady at my office. I loved her more than anyone despite not being able to communicate very well. We didn't speak each others language, but we had/have a lot of love, and she deserves to hear from me in the form of letters on paper to her mailbox in Jackson Heights, Queens.

I was my Oprah-style best self last week doing Spanish podcasts on the treadmill.

I'm going to be studying how to pull off building a modern home in a historic district in town. We are pretty-much-for-sure building a house. Study, study, study.

  1. I really recommend the Rosetta Stone online-only course. (it's called something like TotalE which I would read as totally!)
I used it when we were living in France and went from being pretty uncomfortable saying Bonjour to ordering competently in restaurants for both of us - even asking some simple questions!
Anyway, it's like two hundred bucks for a two or three month subscription, but if you have time to spend on it, it's really really worth it and much cheaper than classes while being just as comprehensive.

I want to hear more about your house-building plan!!

    1. I think my arkansas extended learning center classes are still cheaper than that if I take it thrice. Things are mad cheap down here.

I may do a house-building blog but it'll have to be private. I'll keep you posted! I know you won't come kidnap me and Bonnie. But think modern-in-a-historic-district-while-crossing-fingers-to-get-the-design-past-the-community-board.
