About Me

I'm an Urban Girlscout in New York City. I live on the Upper East Side and I always carry a camera - whether it's just my cell phone, a disposable, a toy camera or my DSLR, I'm always prepared to document the events of the day. (But mostly I use a rough & tough Pentax Optio H90)

April '10, I started almost-daily bicycle commuting. I try to ride in the clothes I plan to wear to work or whatever event I'm going to, and I take a lot of Bicycle Outfit photos and discuss that here, but I also talk about random stuff, adventures, stuff I bought, etc.

I work as an in-house fit-model and receptionist at a Junior/Women's clothing company in the Garment District. I'm 31 years old.

Something else very important about me - My husband and I live in a 375 square foot apartment in a Historic Landmark Tenement building. Yep, NYC tiny. I have had a professional home organizer come over and talk me through some things.

My street-cred is deep in that I appeared on Martha Stewart for a craft that I created. You can read about that here: My Martha Page on JPHardee.com and see my Flickr photo album here.

I also worked for Patricia Field, the stylist from Sex and the City for 2.5 years. I learned a lot and I got to go to some fashion shows and fabulous parties.

Other fun facts: I have had a pen-pal for over 25 years and she is one of my best friends and most-favorite people. We are both wearing weaves in this photo and I partied so hard I had to throw my dress away at the end of the night. I busted an iPhone the night before the wedding too!
Weave Hoes Dressed Up

I met Bill Clinton & Chelsea Clinton at the Brownie Girl Scouts in 1988 because it was held at my school. I was born on the same day as Chelsea and we were both born in Central Arkansas.
My Vintage Bill Clinton Photo

In 2008 I got to "hug" Hillary Clinton at a pep-talk she gave for Barack Obama in Little Rock.

The Secret Service broke my arm, but I was still beyond happy.

I attended Obama's inauguration. I was there and I'm so happy I went!

  9. Julie! You are my lady bike commuter inspiration! I've been reading your blog for some time now and you have been such a big help. I actually just got a new Linus myself but I got a Mixte. I have a 15 mile round trip commute so biking in my work clothes is not an option. I'm super jealous of your adorable daily outfits. Keep up the great work and hopefully we will run across (not into) each other one day.
