Mauid

On 03-04-2005... Quirky date chosen deliberately for easy memorization... My husband and I got married in Maui.
Wedding 03-04-05
For many totally valid reasons, I wanted a very low-key, economical wedding in a beautiful location. Photos and simplicity were my top priorities. I wanted to stay as far away from a "circus" as possible. I was never for one day a mushy girl who thought herself a princess and dreamed of what her wedding would look like. I make a puke-face just thinking about that.

We used Paradise Dream Weddings because I did extensive online research and was most-impressed with the photographer, Gordon Nash. I loved his images and he was definitely consistent, so I knew what we were going to get.

We had a quick non-religious ceremony, unless you count the Hawaiian blessings bestowed upon us by the Kuhina. When I was a very little girl, I do remember my mother being terribly impressed when she learned of a woman officiating a wedding, so all my life I did know that a woman would officiate my wedding.

A guy who looked like Ron Jeremy played guitar and sang.

It was just us at the ceremony, we had a party for family and friends in Arkansas 3 weeks later. The Kuhina and Ron Jeremy were our witnesses. This is one version of an announcement I made afterward:

We had a reception-style party three weeks later near where we grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and showed our wedding video to our family and friends. There are tons of wedding photos right here on Flickr.
